A laundromat is a business that runs best empty. The machines collect their own money, the lights stay on, and the owner's real work happens in the gaps: quoting a wash-dry-fold load, chasing a pickup, and remembering which dryer is due for a service.
That is where the AI in this software market has actually landed - in the conversation, not in the drum. Three of the platforms below sell an AI receptionist that answers the phone, quotes a load and books a pickup, and two of them publish what that costs.
1. CleanCloud - the cloud POS with a shipping AI phone agent
CleanCloud is an all-in-one POS for laundromats, dry cleaners and alterations shops, used across the US, UK, the EU and Australia. It covers the counter, pickup and delivery, a customer website, payroll and multi-store reporting, and it publishes prices in local currency rather than converting one US table.
Its published tiers are Lite $99/month, Pro $129, Grow $189 and Grow+ $335, dropping to $89, $109, $169 and $335 billed yearly; UK operators see GBP 70, 85, 135 and 275 per month. The AI Voice Receptionist sits in the main navigation with this line: “Voice is your AI phone agent for laundromats and dry cleaners. It handles orders, manages inquiries, and never puts a customer on hold.” No separate price is published for the voice agent, so ask whether it is included in your tier.
Why it made the list: the clearest public price table in the market, and one of only two vendors here selling a live AI phone agent.
2. Cents - the laundry POS that prices its AI receptionist by name
Cents is built for laundromats and wash-dry-fold operators, and it splits pricing three ways depending on whether you run self-serve machines, a counter, or both.
Self Serve and Wash Dry & Fold both run Starter $89/month, Growth $249 and Ultimate $399. The All-in-One line that combines them is Starter $149, Growth $399 and Ultimate $599. The AI is a named line item rather than a feature bullet: “AI Receptionist Team - Cents Assist, $99/mo”, available on any tier with an active plan. Cents says the team filters out between 80% and 100% of inquiries before they reach your staff, across calls, texts and website chats.
Why it made the list: the only platform in this roundup that puts a dollar figure on the AI itself.
3. Laundroworks - the same software, sold with the hardware
Laundroworks sells the payment hardware most laundromats touch every day: card readers, value-add kiosks and loyalty cards. Its software layer runs on Cents, and its pricing page carries the same table.
Starter $89/month, Growth $249 and Ultimate $399, with a Wash Dry & Fold add-on at $60/month and the same $99/month for the AI Receptionist Team - the page credits it as “Cents Assist AI” and repeats the 80% call-cutting claim. Hardware is quoted per store after a call rather than published.
Why it made the list: worth knowing before you buy either name, because the software table is identical and the difference is equipment and support.
4. Gorilla POS - per-location pricing and AI maintenance schedules
Gorilla POS is a general operations platform - checklists, inventory, staff scheduling, then a full point of sale - with a laundromat version operators run on the Complete plan. It prices per location, which suits an owner with three stores better than per-seat licensing.
The published annual rates are $39, $63 and $119 per location per month for Starter, Operations and Complete, billed as $468, $756 and $1,428 per location per year; the headline on its pricing page is “Plans starting at $49/location/month”. AI appears where you would not expect it: “You'll also get AI-generated maintenance schedules based on your equipment manuals.” Enterprise is quoted.
Why it made the list: the cheapest per-location entry point here, with AI pointed at the part of the business that quietly eats weekends.
5. LaundriPOS - per-location pricing for smaller operators
LaundriPOS is a newer entrant aimed at operators who want one screen per shop, priced per location in Naira, with Ghana and Kenya toggles the vendor says are indicative until local billing ships.
Starter is ₦12,000/month per location, Professional ₦18,000 for one to five locations, and Enterprise ₦22,000 with unlimited locations. Smart Revenue Insights briefings - two a month on Professional, four on Enterprise - are the closest thing to AI here, and the pricing page is unusually straight about the rest: “Customer FAQ Assistant (rule-based FAQ, not generative AI).”
Why it made the list: the clearest example in the market of a vendor labelling what is not AI.
6. Xplor Spot - the incumbent that will not publish a number
Xplor Spot is what SPOT Business Systems and Fabricare Manager became after consolidation - both older domains now redirect there. This is the software many established laundromats already run, and it is deliberately opaque.
There is no pricing page and no tier table. Onboarding runs through a demo request, and the site names no AI feature at all: no voice agent, no chatbot, no scheduled maintenance assistant. If AI is on your shortlist, this is the platform where you have to ask directly and get the answer in writing.
Why it made the list: the honest comparison point - a legacy system with no published price and no AI on the page.
7. Wash-Dry-Fold POS - publishes everything except the software price
Wash-Dry-Fold POS is sold in the US only and, by its own account, only to laundromats rather than dry cleaners. The vendor says more than 1,250 laundromats run it and that it adds 10 to 20 locations a month.
One figure is public: card processing at a flat 2.65% on every card type with $0 monthly statement fees, which is low for the category. The subscription is described as “about half the laundry industry average” with pickup and delivery included, but the number itself is only released on a qualifying call, as is hardware. No AI feature appears on its pages.
Why it made the list: a rare case where the processing rate is public and the subscription is not - worth its own column in your comparison.
8. Curbside Laundries - no price, no AI mention
Curbside Laundries sells pickup-and-delivery software to laundromats and dry cleaners, a narrower job than a full POS.
Its pricing page returns a 404 error and the product pages carry no figures, so you get there through a demo request. As with Xplor Spot, no AI feature is named on the site - unusual in a market where two rivals now advertise an AI receptionist.
Why it made the list: the cleanest illustration of the split in this market - modern cloud vendors publish, traditional vendors talk.
What the price tables actually tell you
Line the eight platforms up and a pattern appears. The five that publish real numbers are all cloud products built in the last decade, and all of them price per location or per plan: $39, $89 or $99 to start, $335 to $599 at the top.
The three that publish nothing - Xplor Spot, Wash-Dry-Fold POS and Curbside Laundries - are the older, installed-base systems. That is less a criticism than a practical warning: an opaque vendor is one you cannot budget for without a sales call, and one where you should ask explicitly what AI is shipping today versus planned for next year.
How to choose without sitting through five demos
Start with the shape of your business. Self-serve only, wash-dry-fold only, or both: the tiers differ enough that a mixed operation can pay close to double on the All-in-One line at Cents.
Then price the AI separately. Cents publishes $99/month for its receptionist; CleanCloud publishes nothing for its voice agent. That single gap is worth one question in writing, because a tier that looks $100 cheaper can be the more expensive one once the phone agent is added on.
Finally, weigh payment processing as heavily as the subscription. A flat 2.65% on every card type is a different budget from a tiered rate, and on a busy laundromat it is the largest single line in the stack.
The honest takeaway
The AI in laundry software is not clever, and that is a good thing. It answers the phone, quotes a load and books a pickup - the work that otherwise pulls an owner off the floor. Two vendors now charge around $99 a month for it, and two others still do not mention it at all.
If you are choosing this quarter, the decision is less about AI than about who will show you a number. CleanCloud, Cents, Laundroworks, Gorilla POS and LaundriPOS let you budget today. Xplor Spot, Wash-Dry-Fold POS and Curbside Laundries would rather have the conversation first - fine, as long as you leave it with a figure in writing.
