Independent hotels run on thin teams. The same person checks guests in, answers Booking.com messages, chases reviews and drops rates when a quiet weekend appears. That second set of jobs โ inbox, reviews, rates โ is exactly what AI tools have quietly got good at.
This guide covers eight platforms small hotels, inns and B&Bs are using in 2026: what the AI does, and what it costs where the vendor publishes a figure.
What to look for before you buy
Two things matter more than an AI badge. First, does the platform connect to the channels you already sell on โ Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb and your own website? Second, is the AI doing work you would otherwise do by hand? An assistant that answers routine guest questions overnight is close to a hire. A dashboard with a sparkle icon is not.
Prices below were read from the vendor's own pricing page in October 2026, in the currency they publish.
1. HiJiffy โ AI guest messaging that answers before you wake up
HiJiffy is a guest messaging platform for hotels, and it names its AI products directly: a Booking Assistant AI that steers enquiries towards direct bookings, and a Virtual Concierge AI that handles guest questions around the clock. The Pro tier adds a generative AI chatbot with unlimited knowledge-base topics and support for 132 languages.
Plans scale with room count: Basic from โฌ99 a month, Pro from โฌ159 and Premium from โฌ319 (about $109/$179/$359), each with a one-off setup fee of โฌ99, โฌ399 or โฌ599 per five properties. Details are on hijiffy.com.
Why it made the list: AI named on the product, prices published, and it starts where small hotels actually drown โ the inbox.
2. Canary Technologies โ an agent for the whole guest journey
Canary covers check-in, messaging, upsells and digital tipping, and its AI sits at the same level as those modules: Canary AI, AI Agent Studio, AI Voice, AI Guest Messaging and AI Webchat. The proposition is that routine calls and chats get answered without anyone watching the screen.
Pricing is quote-only. The Canary site lists its products with a book-a-demo call to action and no figures; its structured data carries placeholder zero prices, so there is nothing honest to publish here.
Why it made the list: the most complete agentic guest-service stack on this page โ just budget for a sales conversation first.
3. Cloudbeds โ the PMS with a foundation model underneath
Cloudbeds is one of the better-known cloud platforms for independents, and it has gone furthest on the data layer with Signals, which it markets as hospitality's first foundation AI model. Its Revenue Intelligence add-on, powered by Signals AI, produces rate and pricing recommendations โ the vendor quotes forecast accuracy of up to 95%.
Pricing is quote-only: the site lists Flex for operators bringing their own stack and Enterprise for custom packages, both behind a request-a-quote button.
Why it made the list: the strongest AI story in hotel software, with the trade-off that you cannot see a number before talking to sales.
4. Mews โ one system, with AI messaging in the guest layer
Mews runs the property management system, payments and guest journey in one platform. Mews AI handles messaging on WhatsApp and SMS alongside self-serve check-in kiosks and digital keys, and add-ons such as Housekeeping and Automations can be switched on as a property grows.
Pricing is tailored per property through a quote form on mews.comPricing is tailored per property through a quote form on mews.com, with payment processing billed separately and point-of-sale services sold as add-ons.
Why it made the list: the closest thing here to replacing a patchwork tech stack in one contract, with AI messaging built into the guest layer.
5. WebRezPro โ the clearest pricing in the category
WebRezPro is a long-standing cloud PMS aimed at independents, inns and small groups, with one flat price per unit instead of tiered feature bundles. Its product menu includes Pulse, an AI guest marketing module, so the AI is an add-on to a system you can price in advance.
WebRezPro charges $10 per unit per month with a $100 monthly minimum and no setup fee, and publishes the band minimums as properties grow: $150 a month for 15โ24 units, $250 for 25โ49, rising to $1,500 for 150 or more.
Why it made the list: transparent pricing makes it the easiest baseline against which to judge every quote you receive.
6. OwnerRez โ Rezzy AI for owners of a handful of rooms
OwnerRez is vacation-rental software that small guest houses and B&Bs use, and its assistant Rezzy handles guest communication and daily operations from inside the product. It is listed as a premium feature rather than part of the base package, so expect to pay for the AI on top of the subscription.
Pricing is per property on a sliding scale โ the OwnerRez slider shows $88 a month for five properties, with unlimited bookings, no booking fees, no contracts and a 14-day trial.
Why it made the list: per-property pricing suits a five-room guest house far better than per-room enterprise contracts.
7. Guesty โ the cheapest AI-assisted starting point
Guesty manages short-term rentals at scale, and its AI appears in the day-to-day rather than in a separate product: ReplyAI drafts a personalised reply to each guest message in the unified inbox, PriceOptimizer handles AI pricing, and AI listing descriptions and a website builder cover the marketing side.
Guesty Lite starts at $9 per listing per month for one to three listings and includes a channel manager, unified inbox and direct booking website on guesty.com; the Pro tier for four to 199 listings is priced by portfolio, and PriceOptimizer is an add-on.
Why it made the list: a genuinely low entry price for a property testing whether AI guest messaging is worth it at all.
8. Asksuite โ a focused AI agent for reservations
Asksuite sells one job rather than an all-in-one platform: Sophia AI answers guest questions across webchat, WhatsApp and email, sitting on top of an omnichannel CRM for reservations and upselling. If the problem is unanswered enquiries, a specialist agent is often the smaller change.
Asksuite publishes no first-party pricing โ its own pricing path returns a 404 โ so treat Asksuite as quote-only until you have a proposal in hand.
Why it made the list: a narrow tool that solves the single most expensive problem for small hotels โ enquiries that never get answered.
Priced, transparent and AI-free: the sensible baseline
Not every property needs an AI agent, and three platforms publish low, clear prices while making no AI claims of their own โ a useful baseline if you would rather add a messaging agent later.
Apaleo charges โฌ8 per room per month from โฌ400 a month, with no setup, license or integration fees. Smoobu starts at โฌ29 a month billed yearly on its Flex plan, โฌ35 on Prepaid and โฌ55 on Pro+, with a 0.9% booking fee on the cheapest tier. Beds24 runs from โฌ15.50 a month pay-as-you-go, plus โฌ0.55 per channel link and โฌ2 per extra login.
Little Hotelier, the SiteMinder-owned option for small properties, publishes Basics from $39 and Pro from $179 a month with a 1% booking fee on Basics and add-ons including Dynamic Revenue Plus. Its pricing page names no AI, so treat the AI claims as unproven rather than a reason to choose it.
How to choose without overspending
Start with the work you resent most. If it is the inbox, a guest messaging layer pays back fastest: HiJiffy publishes prices, Canary and Asksuite want a conversation first. If it is rates, the pricing module matters more than the chatbot, and that usually means Cloudbeds, Mews or a revenue tool bolted onto a cheaper PMS.
Then check the boring parts. Confirm the AI features you are paying for are live rather than badged as coming soon, and ask which ones are add-ons: Guesty's PriceOptimizer and OwnerRez's Rezzy are both priced separately from the base plan.
Finally, multiply by your room count. Per-room and per-property pricing diverge fast: โฌ8 a room looks cheap at ten rooms and expensive at eighty, while a flat $10 per unit with a $100 minimum is hard to beat under fifteen.
The Honest Takeaway
AI in hotel software is real but uneven. Guest messaging is where it ships today and where small properties feel the benefit first, because it removes work that happens at 2am. The AI that changes your profit and loss โ pricing and revenue management โ generally sits behind an add-on or an enterprise quote.
A sensible sequence: pick a PMS you can price in advance, add a messaging agent once the inbox proves it is the bottleneck, and only then look at AI pricing tools.
